I’ve waited for this day for literal years. Kevin’s made it known that our loft living room has always been 100% under my authority. So, I got to work dreaming up what I wanted for my own personal “lady lounge” space. Where did I land? Lots of neutral decor, green and natural accents and plenty of soft textures to go around. Come on in!

Our Loft Living Room Before

A few months ago I shared a before look at our loft in this post, and it’s certainly been a dramatic transformation. All we really had was this 3-seater couch and an oversized chair that we had to remove from our bedroom. The new chair came months before we planned to move the old one out so this space became full FAST.

We still have all of these pieces. The table is in our basement and we’d even hoped to move the couch there too, but sadly it didn’t fit through the doorway.

Our Loft Living Room Couch

If you follow me on Instagram, you for sure saw my excitement when the couch came in! It arrived (FINALLY) on September 9 after being ordered on March 19, nearly six months prior. It was the longest wait and the loft living room was really unfinished looking for the longest time.

I’m still so pleased I stuck it out because I’ve laid on it literally every night for the past three weeks we’ve had it. We didn’t have a really good “napping couch” and sometimes you just want to lay down and watch some TV, you know?

Plus, let’s talk about the ottoman. It’s huge and perfectly sized for the couch and our space. Kevin loves having a place to kick his feet up and knowing we are in the family planning mindset, I loved the idea of not having a sharp-edged table for little heads to bump on one day.

Loft Couch Accessories

Knowing we wouldn’t have a dedicated table for drinks, etc. one of my first purchases was a nice big wood tray.

Home Sweet Home Lumbar Pillow

I had no plans to decorate this but it’s big enough to keep both my faux eucalyptus, four remotes, two coasters and then some, so here we are.

Fake Eucalyptus Wood Tray

It needed to be big enough to function because as much as I love the idea of hiding my remotes, it’s just not practical. We use them daily so at the very least they’re corralled one spot to avoid losing them to the couch cushions.

Loft Living Room Neutral Wall Decor

To keep the space light and relaxing I wanted to keep the wall decor natural and low key. Most of the decor pieces are either greenery or neutral colored trinkets (i.e. wood candle sticks, cream LED timer candles, etc.)

Cream Couch Sectional Shelves

The floating wood shelves were a Target find and matched the darker wood of my entertainment center and end tables.

Pro Tip: Keep the number of different wood shades to a minimum to avoid cluttering your space.

For example, my clock and tray are a medium shade while the rest are a darker espresso color of wood. There’s no really light colored woods in the space because a third stain shade seemed like a lot for the size of the room. Each space will be a little different depending on size, but for a medium sized space like my loft living room, I suggest two different shades maximum.

The Rest of the Loft Decor

Across from my prized cream sectional sofa is the entertainment center and a faux tree for additional greenery. Not pictured is the uplight I have installed (and hooked up to an Alexa enabled smart plug) behind the tree to turn on in the evening for some non-direct, ambient lighting.

Entertainment Center in Loft

To keep the space open and clean I just keep a few items on the entertainment center.

My favorite is the black metal hanging clock in the middle. It’s my favorite piece from the Summer 2021 Decocrated box and should be available in their member’s shop for purchase as well. Note: Save $15 on any Decocrated subscription with TFFH15 if you’re interested!

Also seen are just a few photo frames, a candle and a jar of old event tickets which always makes for a fun conversation piece.

Off to the left you’ll see a console table with some decor and extra pillows underneath.

The mirror is a hand me down from Kevin’s grandma. She was downsizing years ago and we’ve had it hung here since right after we moved in but it always looked a little lost with the smaller table I had there. This new table and decor pulls to mirror into the full arrangement and completes this space.

Living Room Dog Toy Storage

If you know my dog at all, you know he’s spoiled af. He has four water dishes throughout our house and every single floor has dog toys. In the previous setup they were easily hidden under the end table because it was in the corner. Now that it’s right at the top of the stairs in the open, that won’t work.

Dog Toy Bin Target

I founds this perfectly complementary woven basket while out one day and knew it was just the ticket! It’s keeping his toys corralled and out of sight from most angles in the loft. Bickell already knows right where to go to find his toys int he new space, which makes this dog mama’s heart so happy.
