It’s getting awfully hard not to scoop up every single holiday pillow I see because they’re SUPER cute this year! Christmas throw pillows are an easy way to transform any space for the holidays.
They’re relatively easy to store in the off season and most can serve a functional purpose while on display. Here are some of my favorite holiday and Christmas throw pillows to get you in the festive spirit with me!
Cuddl Duds Christmas Throw Pillows
I’ve had Cuddl Dud pillows for years, and not just holiday ones. They’re incredibly soft, great everyday pillows. We have these 24×24 gray ones on our couch downstairs and these khaki ones in both 18×18 and 24×24 upstairs in the loft.
Festive Holiday & Christmas Pillows
This classic 18×18 pillow is what I’d consider the trademark Cuddl Dud holiday pillow.
It comes in a bunch of prints and patterns and is available year after year. We have the red buffalo plaid ones that we switch in to our living room setup come Christmas time.
Solid Cuddl Dud Holiday Pillows
This carved sherpa throw pillow is an excellent solid addition to your pillow displays. It’s solid, but surely not boring.
Plus, how cute would it look sitting next to this contrasting red buffalo plaid Cuddl Dud sherpa throw? Or this matching ivory carved Cuddl Dud sherpa throw for a fully neutral look?
Or, for a little more color, try this Chenille knit pillow. It’s not your traditional ‘solid’ but it’s not quite a pattern so it’ll function nicely with your feature pillows with characters or words on them.
Plus, look at the cute pom tassels on the corners! This may just be the most whimsical of the bunch. How cute would this be with an Elf on a Shelf sitting next to it on Christmas morning??
Holiday Character Throw Pillows
Cuddl Duds not only has pillows with festive prints, but pillows of festive friends! I suggest grabbing a few prints/solids and accenting with your favorite character pillow. Mine has to be this adorable snowman!

Hearth & Hand Christmas Throw Pillows
Chip & Jo are killing the holiday throw pillow game this year! Well, let’s be honest, it’s mostly Jo. Let’s have a look.
Red Holiday Pillow Stack’
If these red pillows don’t scream Christmas to you, I don’t know what will. I mean, one literally says Merry!
This is a great example of using different textures, sizes and patterns to create a dynamic stack. The bold stripe pattern pillow in the back is the strong foundation; the color block tassel pillow in the middle adds transition from the busy to the simple, and the front showcases a basic feature piece. Also a big fan of their choice in a cozy throw blanket to finish the look!
Pro Tip: In any scenario, pillows with words should always display with the words fully visible. Pillows aren’t meant to be ‘interactive’ so you don’t want guests rifling through pillows to get the gist of the display, you know?
Interactive Letters to Santa Pillow
You can actually have the kiddos put their letters in this pillow, how cool is that?!
Two larger pillows is a great stack for this space. It’s a narrow window bench, so there’s not a ton of room. Larger pillows will support themselves in the room given and make a statement without causing clutter.

Evergreen Winter Pillow Stack
There’s something about this cozy color palette that makes me want to snuggle up indoors with a good wintery candle.
The larger year-round pillows in the back really tee up a nice backdrop for the two feature holiday pillows up front. The green tassel pillow could also be a year-round piece, but I personally like this color for the holidays. Plus, it looks great with the matching Good Tidings pillow right next to it.
How about that green throw blanket to the right? It’s giving me all the feels. Someone light a fire so I can snuggle right up to it!
Berry and Bright Christmas Throw Pillows
This stack is speaking to me and my neutral decorating crowd. There’s lot of neutrals with just a dash of red in the front pillow and berries to get us in the holiday spirit.
Similar to the last stack, here’s a larger year-round pillow with a simple but bold patterned pillow in the middle, and your simplest/smallest border patterned tassel pillow up front.
In this case, that pop of red brings in the holiday spirit, too! Berry sprigs, wreaths or this Merry & Bright sign are a great ways to incorporate seasonal decor into the area without buying too many holiday-specific pillows.
Also, let’s talk about this advent calendar. It fits the farmhouse aesthetic and modern minimalist styles perfectly! This accessory is a top contender for purchase in my cart right now. Let me know if you get it, too!
Target Christmas Pillows
Target has a TON of holiday and Christmas throw pillows outside of the Hearth & Hand collection, and many will pair very well with the ones I just shared. Time to mix and match!
Buffalo Plaid Christmas Pillows
Huge fan of these Target Wondershop buffalo plaid holiday pillows because they’ll stay in style for years to come. These are perfect staple pieces if you need to add volume to your displays, are looking for texture (they look really fluffy) or maybe you have a smaller space and don’t want to overdo it.
Pro Tip: If you have a lot of one buffalo plaid color scheme, try branching out and getting the opposite color pillow this year. It’s an easy way to give your decor real dimension!
Cable Knit Button Christmas Throw Pillows
My Target must have had these cable knit button pillows out early because I bought them a few weeks ago and couldn’t even link them until a few days ago, crazy! Glad I scooped them up early though because they will for sure sell out.
My only question now is, do I also get the white one? I’m thinking yes!
