There’s no warmer welcome than when you have homemade treats in hand. Today, I’m making no-bake Fourth of July cake poppers for the upcoming patriotic holiday.

4th of July (1)

The best part of these? You can switch out the sprinkles for literally an occasion! Throw some green and red in and all of a sudden its a Christmas treat.

Fourth of July Cake Popper Ingredients

Making Fourth of July Cake Poppers

  1. Mix the butter and sugar together until combined.
  2. Add cake mix, flour, salt, and vanilla, mixing together thoroughly.
  3. Pour in desired amount of milk, I recommend 4 tablespoons.
  4. Add in desired amount sprinkles, mix well so they are dispersed.
  5. Roll batter into ball shapes (they will likely be lumpy because of their consistency, it’s okay!) about 1″ or so, however you prefer for your particular dish. Place them on a tray with parchment paper or another type of non-stick surface.
  6. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes so they firm a bit.

Making Cake Popper Coating

  1. Melt 5 oz of melting candy in 2 melting cups when the poppers are almost ready to come out.
Pro Tip: I LOVE my set of melting cups from Wilton. Originally $10.99 at Michael’s but 50% off thanks to my coupon addiction.
  2. Once your two cups of candies are melted, give them a stir.
Pro Tip: Even if they don’t look melted, try stirring. Chances are they are complete liquid just barely holding on to their original form, no need to keep microwaving.
  3. Add a few drops of food dye to each of the melted candy cups and stir, the create a tie-dye looking swirl.

  4. Dip in each of the cake poppers to coat in candy. You can either dip just one half or try to go for the whole popper, but the whole thing being coated is definitely harder. Either way is fine, my batch ended up being half and half!
  5. Once they have been dipped let them dry on a clean tray of parchment paper and refrigerate. I let mine sit overnight in the fridge and they always turn out just fine.

Viola! Insta-ready cake poppers for your America-themed festivities. Enjoy!
