These English muffin pizzas have been one of my favorites since I was a kid. They’re incredibly easy to make, and because of how infrequently I have them, they’re still such a treat each time I do!

English Muffin Pizza Recipe

For those who haven’t been exposed to this delicious, family friendly dish, allow me. Here’s a quick how-to and a break down of the ingredients list.

English Muffin Pizza Ingredients

  • English muffins (I use multigrain)
  • Pizza sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese

However, I am always a big proponent of playing with a recipe, so feel free to add or sub out ingredients to customize your own English muffin pizzas. Some optional ingredient ideas include:

  • Pepperoni
  • Sausage
  • Extra virgin olive oil (instead of pizza sauce)
  • Garlic salt
  • Crushed red pepper
  • Oregano

Preparing English Muffin Pizzas

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Meanwhile, spray your cooking sheet with non-stick oil, cover with tinfoil, or both (my personal preference because there’s less cleanup and least stick).

Split the English muffins and place with the inside facing up. Spread your sauce – pizza sauce, margarita, olive oil base, etc. on the tops first.

My Preferred Sauce: I’m a big fan of my pizza having a garlic taste to it, so I used a basting brush to spread on a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and garlic salt, prior to topping with a simple pizza sauce.

Next, add the mozzarella cheese on top of your sauce. I opt for a low moisture/part skim milk variety with less calories and cholesterol but all the same taste (in my opinion).

Then, sprinkle with oregano and crushed red pepper, or whatever you’d normally put on your pizza.

Pro Tip: When making my own pizza (even when heating a frozen one) I add spices beforehand so they can bake right in to the cheese. Call me crazy, but I think it tastes better and the seasoning sticks better.

Cooking English Muffin Pizzas

Conventional Oven Bake: 350 degrees for 15 minutes
Convection/Toaster Oven Bake: 375 degrees for 12 minutes

Regardless, cook times vary in all ovens, and you should monitor a new dish whenever cooking it for the first time. Check occasionally, and if you’re like me, make sure they get a little orange and crispy on the top!

Note: Since publishing this recipe, air fryers have become a huge hit. I haven’t made these in mine yet but I bet they’d be amazing if you cooked them for about 8 minutes for 3-4 pizzas.

Finished Pizzas and Nutrition

These treats are surprisingly low in calories. If prepared with an English muffin, pizza sauce, and mozzarella cheese, you’re looking at only about 135 calories per pizza (not per full muffin). If you’re going to add toppings or swap the sauce for olive oil, calorie counts will vary.

They’re also great with ranch (like everything).

Have you given these a try? I’d love to know what ingredients or twists you use on your English muffin pizzas. Let me know in the comments!
