Nursery planning is well underway! I know exactly what I want for my baby girl nursery and Kevin is totally on board. So, now it’s just the actual work that needs to be done. Here’s what we’re already purchased, and what work we are still planning to do prior to baby girl’s spring arrival.

Overall Baby Girl Nursery Theme

If you couldn’t tell, I’ve decided to go with a soft pink and white theme with hints of neutrals in both wood and gold accents. The focal point will be a gorgeous soft pink board and batten wall behind the crib on the wall opposite the door.

This photo popped up randomly (well, as random as big data really is) on an ad so I took a screenshot. Source is unknown but big data literally read my mind because this picture is as close to the project I’ve been describing to Kevin as I’ve found so far.

As a result, Kevin has asked for this Dewalt miter saw for Christmas (fair) because we’ll definitely need it for the board and batten project. Would you like a post on that project once we get to it in the new year? Let me know in the comments!

Nursery Furniture

The big pieces were set a while ago, and we’re thrilled to be furnishing our nursery with Storkcraft as we’ve always planned! Their pieces are high quality, sturdy and per Kevin, simple to assemble.

Baby Girl Nursery Crib and Dresser

Storkcraft White Solstice Crib Baby Girl Nursery

For baby girl, we’ve chosen the Storkcraft Solstice Crib and the Storkcraft Moss Dresser, both in white. They’ll fit in perfectly with our soft pink, white and natural baby girl nursery theme.

They’re also sending us a wonderful changing table pad for atop the dresser! Kev and I both highly recommend checking out their products if you’re on the hunt for nursery furniture.

Breathable Crib Mattress

For the mattress, after some research and the advice of trusted parent friends, we’re going to be getting baby girl a Newton Baby Mattress in pink. We love the breathability aspect in case she rolls over and isn’t able to get back before we can get to her. Always knowing she’ll be safe in her own crib offers us huge peace of mind.

Additionally, we’re registering for a spare Newton Mattress cover in white. Reason one is that a spare one is always a good idea to have in case of bed wetting accidents, especially overnight. The reason we’re getting it in white is if we have another baby down the line, and pink doesn’t quite work for that nursery aesthetic. Don’t want to over invest in pinks when we don’t know what our future holds, you know?

Nursery Closet Organization

The closet is where arguably most of the things we need for baby girl will be kept, so it’s critical that it’s organized in a smart way.

Soft Pink Baby Hangers

Wanting to keep this space as organized and functional as possible, I’m keeping intricate detail to a minimum. All her hangers will be this soft pink baby hanger (I ordered 120 because as the first grandchild, I KNOW we’ll fill them).

Neutral Woven Baskets

So far, I have near identical dupes of these gray woven rope baskets that I got locally. They’re shallow and will likely be used inside drawers versus out on shelves since I’m going with more of an overall a warmer tone.

Gray Woven Baskets

The price was too good to pass at the time and her dresser is going to need lots of help keeping organized between all her diapers, burp cloths and bows, so these will get more use than I realize.

I’m looking at baskets similar to these cream colored rope baskets with reinforced handles for the closet shelves. They’re even simpler, and for me, the simpler the decor the less scrambled the mind. I plan to use these for clothing and accessories that don’t make sense to hang i.e. those cute little ruffle diaper covers, hats, mittens, swaddles, etc. Plus, they’ll fit the neutral theme I have going incredibly well.

Baby Girl Nursery Chandelier Ideas

Right now, Kevin has a very masculine feeling, home office-looking type fan in the nursery. The space used to be his home office, so that’s fair. But since a baby has no need for a ceiling fan, I was hoping we’d take it down until she’s old enough to use it. It’s a really nice fan, so we’re going to hold onto it for another space, or even her room down the line.

Meanwhile, she could have a soft overhead light that blends into the rest of the space. This wood bead chandelier from Amazon really caught my eye. It’s saved to my Amazon Pregnancy List for reference because there’s a good chance we end up with something similar.

I recently also found this brown and white bead chandelier that’s in high contention for the nursery. It doesn’t have any reviews yet but it’s so gorgeous I’m willing to (have Kevin) take the chance on it.

Other Nursery Details

Miscellaneous details that I’ve nailed down for far for baby girl’s nursery.

Book Shelves and Bow Racks

I saw another mama to be sharing that she bought four of these neutral wood book shelves. She used two as book shelves as normal and flipped two upside to use as bow racks.

Natural Wood Nursery Book Shelves

She paired the bow rack ones with these gold ring clips to clip the bows to them. How cute, right? I absolutely had to do this, too!

Baby Girl Nursery Rug

I’m still debating if I want a pink or ivory rug, but either way, I’m likely getting a fluffy circle rug like this one to put partially under the crib. The crib is 52″ wide so the 4×4 foot circle rug is a perfect fit.

Fluffy Ivory Rug

Which would you go with, considering my pink board and batten wall and white crib? Pink or ivory (or find a white one)?

What about our baby girl nursery inspiration caught your eye? I’d love to hear your favorite parts, suggestions or feedback about anything you’ve tried. We’re still very much in the learning phase and welcome all information.

If you’re in the same boat as us, be sure to save this post to your Pinterest for later reference. Also be sure to subscribe to my email list for the full nursery reveal early next year!
