Tis’ the season for red cups and the delicious, wintery drinks that fill them. But if you’ve ever sipped a Starbucks peppermint mocha and thought it was too rich, I have just the treat for you. Today, I’m sharing my all-time favorite holiday Starbucks drink order, my skinny peppermint white mocha.

Starbucks Peppermint White Mocha

However, as you know I’m a proud Midwestern year-round iced coffee drinker, so don’t be too shocked when you only see iced cups in this post! Just know, this drink is equally as delicious ordered hot.

Why the Skinny Peppermint White Mocha

Firstly, I try to drink everything as skinny as possible because I don’t need the extra calories, and usually prefer the taste of the skinny versions. The question that I get more though, is why the white mocha?

The regular mochas at Starbucks are way too rich for me. Can’t do mocha in any drinks; year round, holiday or otherwise. Not even the Frappuccinos. I’ve accepted this fate; but I love peppermint so I was still ordering peppermint mochas (which are to me what PSLs are to the rest of the world) around this time of year. Still though, it was pretty rich for me, even with the peppermint, even over ice.

Iced Peppermint Coffee

However, once I realized I could sub for white mocha it was game over. I could have one of these every day! There’s just something about the holiday drink lineup and how they’re put on a pedestal that didn’t make me think about customizing them.

How do I order a Skinny Peppermint White Mocha?

Honestly, you could probably order it just like that: a skinny [iced] peppermint white mocha. But if you’re a little self conscious about your special, not-on-the-menu orders like me, here’s how I order it in the app.

Peppermint White Mocha Order Instructions

The app order defaults to 2 espresso shots (I’m caffeine sensitive, so I order my drinks with less espresso), 4 pumps of white chocolate mocha sauce (which I cut in half), 4 pumps of peppermint syrup (which I also cut in half), whipped cream and chocolate curls (I skip both) and 2% milk (I get nonfat).

My Skinny Peppermint Mocha Order’s Nutrition

Because of all the customizations I made, the nutrition facts on the app are not accurate. Luckily, it’s not accurate because it should have significantly less calories, fat, sugar and more because of all the (over the top and unnecessary) sweets I cut out.

Peppermint White Mocha Nutrition

Please note, I’m not a Dietician or Nutrionist, but want a general idea of what I’m consuming and did some comparing to similar orders.

Based on the exact nutrition from the Starbucks website, for a grande iced white mocha with non-fat milk and no whip cream, here’s what I’m estimating is in a grande size of my favorite iced skinny peppermint white mocha:

Starbucks Nutrition Facts
via Starbucks

Calories: 310
Total Fat: 6g
Cholesterol: 10mg
Sodium: 170mg
Carbs: 54g
Fiber: 0g
Sugar: 52g (probably less, explanation below)
Caffeine: 150mg (with two shots of espresso, 75mg if you reduce to one shot like I do)

The sugar is a little scary, but again, I think it looks higher still here because this is based on four pumps of white mocha syrup and my order asks for two white mocha and two peppermint, which I’m pretty sure equates to less. Their mocha syrups are the thickest and notoriously most sugary syrups. The exact sugar content is hard to pinpoint, but I want to give you the facts: it’s probably a lot.

Overall, what’s your take? Have you tried my peppermint white mocha, or will you? Let me know in the comments! Also open to additional insight you may have regarding the nutrition information (as long as you have credible sources). Let the discussion begin!
