Are you ready for the easiest, most sparkly craft of the season? These foam cone Christmas trees were incredibly simple and are keeping my home shimmering all through the season (without much glitter debris, thankfully). Not to mention, the supplies don’t cost very much at all, and you may even have a few on hand already like I did. Pin this post for an easy-to-reference supply list when shopping!

As mentioned, many of these items can be located at a dollar or craft store. However, if you don’t have any locally, these items are great online or curbside pickup options:

Painting the Foam Cones

Step one is painting the cones. I bought two different paints, one for each of the colors I planned to glitter the cones in the end.

Painting Floral Foam Cones

My foam cones were already green but I still painted the ones I intended to make green so the base was much bolder. In the end, I really do think it made a difference.

Let these sit overnight to be sure the paint is fully dried before adding Mod Podge and glitter.

Adding Glitter to the Foam Cone Christmas Trees

This will be the messiest part by far, because, glitter.

Glitter Foam Cone Mod Podge

Mod Podge a large chunk at a time and pour over the glitter. Do this on a drop cloth or other removable surface so you can easily pick up and dispose of the glitter when done.

To conserve a little, use glitter that collected on the drop cloth for some of the later sections of the cones. Larger glitter like this grips to the Mod Podge easily. Simply roll the Mod Podge coated area in the glitter pile to recycle the already shaken glitter.

You’ll never even know which side was shaken with glitter and which was rolled!

Finished Glitter Cone Christmas Trees

Aren’t they gorgeous?! They’re so simple you could style them anywhere. These below are on my kitchen island and the other two I made are on a ledge behind my Christmas tree for an extra hint of sparkle.

These can be made in literally any color. After doing mine I thought about maybe making a few champagne glitter ones in various sizes. How pretty would those be? I’m also a big fan of pinks, blues, light greens and purples for Christmas as well. A whole little village of sparkly trees in those colors would surely brighten any space, especially kids’ rooms this season!

Have you given this craft a try, or will you? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to share your trees!
