Full Tour of a Minimalist Baby Girl Nursery

This room has come a long way from being Kevin’s home office when we first moved in. For starters, it’s a lot more pink these days! One thing is for sure, it’s exactly what I’d hoped for a baby girl nursery. Here’s the full tour, all the details and the sources for everything I can link.

Baby Girl’s Crib

This is the space I’ve had envisioned in my head for the longest time. I couldn’t find anything online that resembled what I wanted so this really was a labor of love from scratch. Eventually, I found a similar concept that I screenshotted off an Instagram story ad (probably popped up after all my searching for ‘pink board and batten’) and I shared that in my pink and white nursery post.

I knew I wanted a board and batten wall, and eventually realized I liked the idea of a watercolor floral decal on top for a baby girl nursery, which solidified the coloring. Knowing her crib is white, I wanted the wall to be a color so it’d pop. This was perfect, because I wanted the flowers on white so they would pop. Pink and white it is!

The next step was finding a soft pink that I would match the mattress I had in mind. Her crib mattress is a Newton breathable mattress and doesn’t require sheets, so knowing this pink cover would be on display, I didn’t want the wall to clash. Ultimately, we decided on ‘Cupcake Pink’ by Behr and it came out perfectly!

Nursery Books and Toys

Just to the right we have her natural wood book shelves and toy bin. For our baby shower we asked guests to bring a book with a note in it so she’d have those sweet words to look back on for years and we’re glad we did. We love knowing our friends and family helped fill her bookshelves with all kinds of great reading!

Her toy bin has a bunch of toys awaiting her arrival, plus a fluffy white blanket hanging over the side. Those toys will soon be joined by the Warmie’s bear and other plushies in her crib once she’s here. We found an adorable fuzzy pink chair at Hobby Lobby (linked similar) that I plan to take monthly pictures in!

Nursery Glider

While there’s a lot of pink, I wanted even more neutral accents, especially for things we might repurpose one day. Her glider was a perfect example. I found this canvas colored neutral glider recliner and just my luck, it was on backorder. I took a chance ordering it, even though it said it wasn’t coming until mid-March. A lot of times that means even longer, however, it actually shipped a month early!

Having the glider come sooner was great because it made matching a table and lamp to it much easier. We opted for these two pieces for specific reasons. The nursery side table has two tiers, which we loved for story book spillover on the bottom. Her books could be kept separate from the lamp, cups, my pump, etc. that will be on the top. This gold lamp is great because it’s tall, giving us more room to move things without bumping into the shade.

You might be wondering, “what about curtains?“

Sadly, those are for real on back order. Per the website, until May for the size I want. So for now, curtains are the only missing piece in baby girl’s nursery. We figure she’ll be in her bassinet in our room for a couple weeks and maybe they’ll come in early, or we use spare curtains to bridge the gap once she’s in her crib. The pink pom curtains I picked out are well worth the wait, though. They’ll look great on the gold curtain rod Kevin already hung once they’re here!

Baby Girl Nursery Bow Organization

Because when you have as many bows as this little one will, you have to have a system in place. If you look off behind the glider you’ll see a few shelves that look suspiciously familiar. That’s because they’re the same as our bookshelves, just turned upside and installed with gold curtain rings on them for bow storage!

I initially saw this idea on Sera Hendrix’s Instagram page. While she didn’t say explicitly how she did it, Kev and I were able to figure it out easily. He simply flipped the brackets on the back of the shelves so they’d hang upside, and we put 20 gold curtain rings (half the pack) on each rod before permanently installing it.

The bows you see are a total Amazon bargain, an 18-pack of soft, colorful baby bows for about $16. They were even half off when I snagged them, making it an insane deal! Also on her shelves are one of these amber vases with faux cattails from her baby shower, and a few ceramic trinket dishes for barrettes and eventually hair ties.

Also over in that corner, not pictured, is our diaper pail; we got one with diaper pail scent pucks for freshness. It’s well out of the view of the main part of the room since it’s primarily for function and not exactly a conversation piece.

Baby Girl Nursery Closet Organization

Admittedly, her closet isn’t much of an Instagram dream, but it’s very well organized and still pretty on theme with her nursery. The products I have for it are great and I’d be remiss to not share them!

First off, these are her pink baby hangers I’ve been bragging about for months. I love how soft pink they are to match the rest of the nursery! They have similar pink baby hangers at Target, but they’re a little more pink, if that’s what you’re seeking.

You’ll also catch these small neutral woven baskets around her closet. These have her pants, socks and other outfit coordinates in them directly below the matching outfits. While I know what goes with what pretty well already, dad definitely doesn’t, and I figured this would help family and sitters find the right pieces, too.

You can see this cube shelf organizer just off to the right in the previous photo. The various drawers include bibs, hats, burp cloths, and other items she won’t need super regularly in one of the bottom drawers. The top shelves aren’t quite figured out yet, but having those extra woven baskets around will be clutch once she’s here and we need more storage.

These collapsible storage bins are actually an Amazon find and come in a few colors. Highly recommend them for your standard 13×13 cube shelves like this!

Lastly, up top you can see her beautiful Happ Brand diaper bag. I debated between the dusty rose and black. However, the bag is really for the parents, so I went with the black and gold. I definitely added the fun little pouf at checkout and even found her a matching initial keychain to add once she arrives so it’s easy to spot her bag if there’s multiples around.

Nursery Dresser and Changing Station

One thing I knew early on was that I wanted a dresser top changing station. It’s space efficient, and the dresser drawers make easily accessible changing supply storage. Our white nursery dresser is from the same company as her crib and Kev gives it rave assembly reviews! I also got this universal changing pad holder to ensure her soft changing pad won’t go anywhere while in use.

To customize this space further, I got this 2-pack of changing pad covers, which included an on-brand pink one. To help keep this space dry, I got this 3-pack of changing pad liners, giving me enough to spare one for our diaper bag. Additionally, I swapped the default handles with these 1 5/16″ gold drawer pulls which match the round gold mirror we hung behind the dresser perfectly!

First-Time Mama Hack: For my linens where I bought a spare, I made sure the extra one was white. Reason being is two-fold: 1) they’re just in case of blowouts/accidents and won’t be on super long. And 2) if we have a boy down the line, we don’t need to buy new again, we’ll use the white linens and the pink ones will become the temporary backup!

Off to the right, you’ll catch a few diaper and sleep essentials. We have her Hatch nightlight and sound machine here to easily tap the light on for check ins. Our wipe warmer will be key for those middle of the night changes, keeping her soothed with a nice warm wipe. And lastly, we have her Owlet Dream Sock docked here so we can slip it on right before bed and nap times.

The Nursery Sofa

Surely you may be wondering why there’s a huge sofa in her nursery, or even how it fit. Great question! Of our three non-main bedrooms, this one is just really big. So, we figured it made the most sense to allocate this one to a child versus a guest room or my craft room.

As for the sofa, this one was going to be our basement couch but doesn’t fit down our narrow basement stairwell. However, we just weren’t ready to part ways with it yet. Given how much space is in her room, we decided it’d make a great place for a tired parent to crash if needed, so here we are! I bought a few extra large pillows and have some blankets nearby so we’re ready for those long nights.

Tucked along side the couch we have her Strawberry Cream DockATot (the perfect color!) and a few Boppy pillows. Eventually, one of those Boppy’s will find a home on the first floor, but for now they’re tucked up here for safe keeping.

Other Baby Girl Nursery Essentials

These are a few items we have tucked away throughout the nursery I just have to showcase. We can already tell we made some great choices based on quality and price of items and I’m eager to share those finds with you!

Pink Muslin Burp Cloths (also comes in white)
- These are SO soft, long, and incredibly well-reviewed on Amazon. They survived their first wash well, too. I have six in pink and 20 in white, we’re ready for all the spit up!
Changing Station Diaper Clutch
- If you’re just heading down the street to the park you can easily grab this out of your diaper bag versus lugging the whole thing. This one matches our diaper bag so well, too!
Baby Brezza Wifi Formula Bottle Maker
- Not quite a nursery piece, when I asked Kevin what he’s been most happy with so far he immediately said our Baby Brezza. Everyone I know with this machine says it’s their top favorite baby product. The machine makes a warm bottle from your phone in seconds! Definitely a baby registry-must have if you’re expecting!
